This will be a very happy new year if records like The State Champs continue to roll out in ought seven. This is one of the the BEST debut albums in recent memory. Amy Abts and Co. have dropped an album of finely crafted pop songs that are so sticky and so sweet they'll be stuck in your head for a long time. The only remedy to this will be repeated listens and the only way to make sure it takes is to make sure the volume is set to slightly less than permanent hearing loss. I dare anyone to not be singing along with Favorite One by the time the first chorus hits. Ms. Abts belts out the lyrics with such vigor it's hard to not cheer for her. All the while her bandmates bring it with the same level committment. The world needs more music that is fun without the heavy handed-nes of being silly. The State Champs fit that bill perfectly. Each time this spins remember that your supposed to have a good time listening to music, remember that weight of the world can wait and remember simply that The State Champs kick ass!!!!!
(Yeah, I am aware that The Shins put out a new ablum, too. It just wasn't as good as this one!)
